Pickled Hermelín is one of the most popular Czech delicacies. However, traditional recipes are often full of oil, salt and unnecessary calories. The good news is that even pickled Hermelín can have its place in a rational diet , if prepared smartly.

In this article you will find a diet recipe for pickled Camembert , which retains its great taste but is much gentler on your figure, digestion and wallet.


Is pickled cheddar cheese good for weight loss?

Yes – in reasonable quantities and in the right dosage .

Ermine:

  • is a source of protein and calcium
  • will keep you full for a longer period of time
  • is low in carbohydrates

The problem is not usually the cheese itself, but:

  • excess oil
  • white bread as a side dish
  • large portions

Therefore, we have adjusted the recipe so that:

  • contained less fat
  • was also suitable for weight loss diets
  • It could be eaten alone or with vegetables.

Diet pickled camembert – recipe

Ingredients (2 servings)

  • 2 pieces of cheddar cheese (ideally the light version, if available)
  • 1 small red onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
  • 5 balls of allspice
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3–4 tablespoons of good quality rapeseed or olive oil
  • pepper to taste

Compared to classic recipes, which commonly use 150–250 ml of oil - here we use much less , which is a fundamental difference.


‍ Preparation procedure

  1. Cut the chervil lengthwise.
  2. Cut the garlic into slices, the onion into thin half rings.
  3. In a clean, sealable jar, layer:
    • onion
    • ermine
    • spices and garlic
  4. Drizzle with oil (do not pour over).
  5. Close the jar and let it mature for at least 48 hours in the refrigerator .
  6. It will acquire the ideal taste after 3–4 days.

Nutritional values (1 serving)

  • Energy: approx. 260 kcal
  • Protein: 14 g
  • Fats: 21 g
  • Carbohydrates: < 2 g

How to serve hermelin in a diet way

Forget white bread. Better choices are:

  • vegetable salad
  • pickles, bell pepper, tomato
  • whole grain crispbread (1 pc.)

Serving = ½ to 1 glass of Camembert , not a whole glass.
